March

Students Keep Striving

Students who shine through the crowd and show their hard work get recognized here at Orcutt Junior High School. These amazing Mustangs get rewarded with Student of the Month! "Student of the Month is a way to recognize just kids that we appreciate. So it could be for different reasons such as classroom behavior, somebody turning it around and doing their homework when before they weren't a good student. It could be a citizenship, people are nice to other people. So it just depends on what teachers want to nominate for," exclaimed Mrs. Johnson our eighth grade math teacher and leader of SOM.

The fantastic students of the month for March are eighth graders: Delanie Duran, Emily Lopez, Ryan Thomas and Cooper Wood! Along with are marvelous seventh grade choices who are: Jack Allen Hinkle, Shivani Panchal, Oliver Ries and Melina Urias! Congrats on all your hard work Mustangs! These students get chosen at the beginning of the month when Mrs. Johnson sends out a nomination form to all the teachers to nominate boys and girls in their classes. After the nominations come in there is a ballot for eighth grade boy and girls and seventh grade boys and girls. At the end result of nominating and being put into a ballot the Students of the Month are chosen and rewarded with a free movie ticket provided by the PTSA, their picture is taken, and a cool article is put in the newspaper about them!

This tradition of rewarding our hard working Mustangs has been effect for over 15 years! Mrs. Johnson, our 8th grade math teacher, has currently been in charge of this program for around 2 years and is doing a fantastic job at it! If you're wondering how maybe you can receive this reward all you have to do is do your best in all classes and have a positive attitude.
