Silly Smart October Students of the Month

Hey Mustangs! Have you received Student of the Month? It is a great honor to earn Student of the Month. Four students from both seventh and eighth grade are chosen each month to get this award. Students can be nominated to be given the title of Student of the Month by their teachers. The Students of the Month are stellar students who always give their best effort, in all subjects. When asked what criteria a student needs to be Student of the Month, there was a positive answer as to how the kids are chosen based by being role models, good grades, hard work, great kids, outgoing, and nice people.


For the month of October, the students chosen for seventh grade are: Alyssa Carrier, Alan Coburn, Karlee Cullen and Ryan Zimmerman. Congratulations to our awesome Students of the Month! Great job, keep showing your amazing character!


Ryan Zimmerman, also known as 'Ryguy,' is a groovin' seventh grader here at OJHS. Ryguy's favorite class is Mr. Salinas' because he likes doing labs and science is fun for him! Math is also a strong subject of Ryan's because he enjoys doing it. Imagine Dragons is Ryan's favorite band. To stay entertained, Ryan loves to swim, draw, and play 'Destiny' on his XBOX 360! In 10 years, Ryan thinks he will be designing awesome video games, or swimming. Ryan is a trooper because he's a huge cat fan, but is allergic.


Alan Coburn, known as AJ or Turbo is a snazzy seventh grader here at OJHS who was chosen for Student of the Month. Alan's favorite class is PE because he learns about his body, exercises, and plays fun sports. AJ likes to skateboard, play baseball, swim, solve rubics cubes, play video games, and lots more. In 10 years, AJ thinks he will be engineering, playing baseball, or being a veterinarian. Turbo just loves to hang out with friends!


Alyssa Carrier is a stylin' seventh grader here at OJHS, who was also chosen for Student of the Month. Alyssa's favorite class is art because she loves to be creative, and art is a perfect way to express her personality. While Alyssa does not have a specific favorite band or singer, she is partial to 80's and 90's music. Swimming and reading are Alyssa's favorite things to do. Alyssa doesn't know what she will be doing in 10 years, but is still hopeful.


Last, but not least, is Karlee Cullen, a fabulous seventh grader here at OJHS was chosen for Student of the Month. Karlee's favorite class is Mr. Salinas' science class because she feels he always finds a way to make every activity fun. Karlee enjoys playing softball, soccer, and volleyball. Justin Bieber is Karlee's favorite artist. In 10 years, Karlee thinks she will be finishing college. Congratulations to all of you awesome seventh grade Student of the Month!


For the month of October, the eighth grade students chosen for eighth grade are: Emily Beale, Robert Cetti, Gabriel Clark and Emily Golden. Congratulations to our amazing Students of the Month! Keep being star students!


Emily Golden, also known as 'Emigo,' is an adventurous eighth grader here at OJHS. Emigo's favorite class is journalism because it is a great learning opportunity, and good for college applications. Justin Bieber is Emily's favorite singer. Pizza is her favorite food. Playing sports and learning new things are Emily's favorite things to do. In 10 years, Emily pictures herself in college with a profession picked out.


Emily Beale, Em, is a ray of sunshine in our eighth grade here at OJHS. Em's favorite class is Mrs. Peterson's class, which she TA's for to keep busy. Emily's favorite thing to do is to play piano and sing. In 10 years, Em hopes to be studying to be a marine bioligst. Emily is an all around great girl!


Gabriel Clark, or Gabe, is an outgoing eighth grade here at OJHS. Gabe's favorite class is Mrs. Scarry's becaushe she is really fun and teaches really well in science. MercyMe is his favorite band. Hiking and reading are Gabriel's favorite things to do. In 10 years, Gabe hopes to do be on his way to a Masters Degree in car mechanics. Gabe started school at 4 years old, and has had many injuries in life. Gabriel has a life quote to live by: "Semper Fidelis." Great job, Gabe!


Robert Cetti, known as Hedgy, is an amazing eighth grader who attends our school of OJHS. Hedgy's favorite subject is history because it has always interested him, and he likes it the most because it is the topics of American History. Robert's favorite things to do are to play football and be with friends. In 10 years, Robert hopes to be studying in his dream school of Cal Poly. Robert played soccer until he was about 8, then his dad forced him to play football for the first time in 3rd grade, and he was hooked on the sport. In his free time, he likes to relax and play video games.


Congratulations to our super star Students of the Month for the month of October! Great job, and keep showing your great effort! Super job to our awesome students. If you want to become Student of the Month, work hard in your classes, show your caring, and try to be the best you can be, it's a great honor!
